The ‘Safe Mobility’ initiative in Colombia helps refugees and migrants travel safely and lawfully to the United States and other countries.

Who can participate?
This program is currently for Cubans, Haitians, and Venezuelans who were in Colombia on or before June 11, 2023, regardless of whether they entered the country regularly or irregularly, and who, at the time of application, have a regular status or are in the process of regularization in the country.
How can I apply for the Safe Mobility initiative?
You can complete the free online form on this website to be considered for and receive information about the Safe Mobility initiative.
If you have already submitted an application, you do not need to do so again.
All services related to the Safe Mobility initiative are free of charge, and no one can ask you for anything in return. Any requests for payments linked to this program should be disregarded.
Online applications for the Safe Mobility initiative are currently paused.
Please note that due to the very large number of applications currently being processed we are implementing a scheduled pause for new applications.

What happens after submitting the evaluation application for the Safe Mobility initiative?
Please bear in mind that not everyone who applies to the Safe Mobility initiative will travel to the United States. Completing the online form on the Safe Mobility portal is the initial step, and it does not guarantee successful completion of the application process.
Due to the significant interest in the Safe Mobility initiative, only those applicants whose submissions are reviewed and fulfill the program’s criteria will be contacted to schedule an interview in Colombia.
Please also consider that during the application review process, it is not possible to provide individualized information about the progress of each case. If your application is reviewed, you will be contacted. No further action is needed on your part.
All final decisions regarding entry into the United States are made by the United States Government.

Remember that Safe Mobility is a multi-step process, not all cases qualify and there is no guarantee of being resettled. If you are found ineligible to participate in the Movilidad Segura program, you may want to consider other options such as Welcome Corps or other complementary pathways to Canada, as well as other lawful pathways that may be added in the future – Keep checking this website for updates!
While in Colombia, it is important to understand your rights and how to access services & assistance available to you and your family including:
- Enrolling your children in school and ensuring they regularly attend an educational institution;
- Securing employment and/or sources of income that allow you to cover housing, food costs & basic needs;
- Accessing health care in Colombia;
- Accessing public universities, understanding how to validate university diplomas, certificates, and employment certifications;
- If you are in process of applying for asylum or regularization in Colombia, do not cease or renounce your case or condition without first seeking legal advice. Each person´s circumstances are different.
